iXnote 26.006 is live, and it brings 12 new Shortcuts actions designed to blow open your graph. Your note cards can now sit inside virtually any workflow your phone or Mac can run, fed by share sheets, dictations, RSS feeds, or Apple's on-device LLMs, and queried whenever you need to hand retrieved information off to another app.
Three Example Workflows I Run Every Day
The 12 new actions are modular building blocks rather than rigid templates. Here is how three simple setups fit into a daily routine:
- One button, one thought, one card: Bound to the iPhone Action button. Press, talk, stop talking. Apple's LLM adds a quick 2 to 4 word title, landing the card in the graph before the dog walk is even over. The linking and deliberate thinking wait until back-at-the-desk time.

- News arriving as suggestions: A four-action routine reads Wired's AI feed and files today's articles as suggestions rather than graph cards. If ignored, they simply drop off. No unread badges, no endless inbox guilt. Rule of thumb: anything noisy belongs in suggestions, not in your graph.

- Summaries while you aren't looking: At the end of the day, a shortcut grabs the meeting transcript via Get Transcript, hands it to Apple's cloud model to summarize, and dumps the result into Apple Notes. iXnote's job is deliberately narrow: hold the day, then hand it over when asked.

Building Blocks & Safe Automation
The full action set (Create Card, Edit Card, Delete Card, Create Connection, Delete Connection, Get Card Connections, Find Cards, Open Card, Get Selected Card, Get Daily Card, Create Suggestion, and Get Transcript) treats cards as native Shortcuts objects. Title, body, category, and status work seamlessly with Apple's built-in Filter and Sort functions.
- Built for unattended runs: Actions like Delete Card ask for no confirmation (a pruning automation that pauses to ask isn't an automation), while connection actions won't create duplicate links, so a half-failed shortcut can simply run again without causing a mess.
- Graceful degradation: If a Pro subscription lapses, custom-category writes degrade gently to plain Notes. Reads refuse to degrade at all. A search filtered to a custom category won't quietly widen to return your whole library, protecting pruning scripts from accidentally deleting the graph.
⚠️ The Breaking Change
Create Connected Card has been removed. It duplicated Create Card plus Create Connection, and it was better to remove it now than carry redundant actions forever. Simply rebuild any saved shortcuts using those two separate actions.
What's Next
Looking ahead, the goal is less big new features, on purpose (if I can resist). Building a tool you use every day makes it easy to fall into the trap of only building features for yourself. Major feature releases are pausing briefly to focus on bug fixes and finding new users who will hopefully provide me with feature ideas that I would never think of.
If iXnote helps your daily thinking, please take a moment to leave a rating or review in the App Store (there's a button in the iXnote settings panel now). It makes a massive difference in search visibility and user acquisition.
Download iXnote on the App Store, and become a better thinker, not a better note taker.
